Terms of Use & License
1. License (EULA)
HammerTray is proprietary software, licensed — not sold — to you for personal use on Apple devices you own or control. You may not redistribute, sublicense, sell, or reverse-engineer the app except where law expressly permits. All rights not granted here are reserved by the HammerTray developer.
2. The service, plainly
HammerTray is a local-first notes tray for macOS. Your notes are stored in Apple Notes (or a folder you choose) and images in ~/HammerTray/Media on your Mac. Optional accounts exist only to manage your plan; note content is never uploaded. See the Privacy Policy.
3. Accounts & trial
Signing in (Google or Apple) starts a 30-day full-featured free trial. When the trial ends, the app continues on the free tier with some features limited; your notes and data remain fully accessible regardless of plan — they live in Apple Notes and are yours.
4. Purchases & refunds
- Paid subscriptions are processed by Paddle, our merchant of record. Paddle handles checkout, invoicing, sales tax/VAT, and receipts under their own terms; we never see your card details.
- Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled. Cancel anytime — cancellation stops future renewals and Pro remains active until the end of the period you already paid for.
- 14-day refund policy: if you're unsatisfied, contact us within 14 days of a charge and we'll refund it.
- Prices are shown at checkout and may change with notice; changes never apply retroactively to an already-paid period.
5. Hammer AI — your account, your costs
The Hammer AI feature invokes an AI command-line tool you installed, authenticated with your own provider account (Anthropic Claude, OpenAI Codex, or Google Gemini):
- Content of a note you run is sent to that provider under their terms, not ours.
- Any usage costs or plan consumption are yours. HammerTray caps each run (budget limit, timeout, restricted tools) but cannot control your provider's pricing or quotas.
- AI output is machine-generated; review it before relying on it.
6. Your data, your responsibility
Hammer AI and Hammer Actions can write files into folders you link and edit notes you point them at. Back up anything you can't afford to lose. Deleting a note moves it to Apple Notes' "Recently Deleted" (recoverable ~30 days); media files are mirrored to a local backup, but no backup scheme is infallible.
7. No warranty
HammerTray is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind, express or implied — including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. You use it at your own risk.
8. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the HammerTray developer is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or exemplary damages — including lost data, lost profits, or AI-provider charges — arising from your use of the app. Total aggregate liability is limited to the amount you paid for HammerTray in the 12 months before the claim.
9. Changes
These terms may be updated as the app evolves. Material changes will be announced in-app, and continued use after a change constitutes acceptance.
