The short version

Your notes never leave your Mac. HammerTray is local-first: your notes, images, and settings live on your machine. The optional account exists only to manage your plan and mirror anonymous-grade usage summaries — never note content.

What lives where (all on your Mac)

DataLocation

Settings, shortcuts, insights stats~/HammerTray/settings.json and local files
Usage insights ("time saved", milestones)Computed and stored locally

If you create an account (optional)

Signing in with Google or Apple lets us manage your trial and subscription. When you do, we store:

This data lives in Google Firebase (our database processor). Payments are handled by Paddle, our merchant of record — we never see or store card numbers. You can request export or deletion of your account data at any time by emailing us; deletion removes your profile and usage records and revokes your tokens.

The AI exception — and you hold the trigger

When you run Hammer AI on a note, that note's content is sent to the AI provider you configured (Claude, OpenAI Codex, or Google Gemini) through your own CLI and account. That transfer is governed by your provider's privacy policy. It happens only for that note, only when you trigger it. HammerTray never sends note content on its own.

Permissions we ask for, and why

None of these move note content off your machine.

Tracking disclosure

HammerTray does not track you across apps or websites and contains no advertising or analytics SDKs. Apple's privacy manifest ships in the app and is kept in sync with this policy.
